Changing plan: upgrades, downgrades and your billing date
Upgrades take effect now and are charged now; downgrades take effect at your next renewal. Both keep the credits you already paid for. Here is exactly what happens to your money.

You never need to cancel to change plan. Pick the plan you want and it is handled — but upgrades and downgrades deliberately behave differently, because the two requests mean opposite things.
Upgrading — immediate
Choosing a bigger plan means you want more credits now. So:
- the new plan starts immediately;
- your card is charged a full term of the new plan today — a month, or a year if you chose yearly;
- the new allowance is added on top of what is left of the old one;
- what was left of the old allowance becomes carried credits, keeping its original expiry, and is spent first;
- your billing date moves to today, because today starts a fresh term.
Nothing is refunded, because nothing is taken away — every credit you had paid for is still in the workspace.
That moved billing date matters: charging a full term while keeping the old renewal date would bill a full period for a partial one. The confirmation states the new date before you agree to it.
Moving from monthly to yearly follows exactly this path — it is an upgrade in commitment, so it starts today and is charged today.
Downgrading — at your next renewal
Choosing a smaller plan — or moving from a yearly term back to monthly — means you need less, not that you want less today, which you have already paid for. So:
- nothing is charged today;
- you keep your current plan and its full allowance until the period ends;
- the smaller plan and its lower price start at your next renewal;
- your billing date does not move.
If you would rather move down immediately, cancel instead and subscribe fresh — but there is rarely a reason to, since you would be giving up credits you have already bought.
Upgrading but not today
An upgrade offers "Don't charge me today". That schedules the bigger plan for your next renewal instead: nothing is charged now, and the larger allowance and higher price both begin at the start of the next cycle.
If a cancellation is already scheduled
Changing plan removes it. Your subscription continues on the plan you chose rather than ending, and no second subscription is created. The confirmation says so before you agree.
Seats and downgrades
An organization cannot move to a plan with fewer seats than it currently has members. Remove members first. The change is refused rather than picking someone to remove for you.
